1anime.me (第一动漫)
In the past, “gentleman” referred to a highly refined man who was pleasant to be around. These days, though, if someone mentions “gentleman anime,” you immediately know they mean adult anime or manga—usually Japanese, centered on youthful, attractive girls, often adapted from official manga stories, and frequently available as ongoing TV-style series. Best not to wish you were a character in those plots, or you’ll end up tangled up with obsessive, lovesick heroines.
1anime.me’s overall layout takes up more screen real estate than most adult sites online. The top banner features oversized, slightly blurry covers from several titles. There’s a search bar that shows trending keywords, a few basic menu options, a login section, and then grids of categories. Black background with white text looks decent enough; the overall feel is fine if you can get used to the wide, spacious design.
The thumbnails show the usual well-known Japanese adult anime titles. During my visit, the top three on the Gentleman Monthly Ranking were Welcome to the Harem Island, Widow Yukionna, and Egyptian Cat – Ankha. There’s also a featured section with curated adult anime collections, each usually limited to around ten titles. Separately, a text-and-image section offers story introductions that feel like novel-style write-ups paired with manga panels—not something that interested me at all.
Finding the actual categories is surprisingly hard. The entrance is tucked away in the bottom-left corner of the carousel under “Gentleman.” That page is titled “Gentleman Library” and contains every video on the site, with a large number of filters at the top. You can narrow results by genre, plot, region, year, and language. Each page displays up to 72 thumbnails, so you’ll need to scroll carefully or risk missing something worth stopping for.
Jumping straight to the last page of the list—page 13—still shows anime the site shared five years ago. At some point the older uploads stopped working and now just display “Unknown Error.” Given the site’s technical issues, I checked some videos uploaded in the last two years instead. Those loaded fine. The player has a clear anime aesthetic that matches the site’s theme and feels comfortable. Picture quality sits around 720p. Aside from the animated ads that pop up when you pause, there isn’t much to complain about.
1anime.me isn’t a classic major site. The design feels like a changing room built for someone oversized, and the homepage entry points are especially messy. It also has serious technical problems—several times trying to return to the homepage triggered a “Bad Gateway” error that required a refresh. Older uploads sit neglected, like a guy who hasn’t cleaned up in ages. If there’s any reason to stick with it, the steady update schedule and the fact that it has never gone offline over the years might still win over a portion of users.
